TITLE: Director, Volunteer Development
TERM: Two Year Term with Renewal Option
REPORTS TO: President, The Credit Valley Volunteer Partners

THE CREDIT VALLEY VOLUNTEER PARTNERS SUMMARY:

The Credit Valley Volunteer Partners is a non-profit service organization, which elects its own executive and operates as a division within The Credit Valley Hospital. The Volunteer Partners’ Board role is to provide volunteer leadership and assist in the development of goals, objectives and policies that support the mission and strategic direction of The Credit Valley Volunteer Partners and The Credit Valley Hospital.

As an active participant of the board, each member must have an understanding of the function and responsibilities of the Department of Volunteer Resources, the Board of Directors with respect to the Ministry of Health and the Ontario Hospital Association.

It is the responsibility of each member to foster positive and supportive relations between the volunteer membership and The Credit Valley Volunteer Partners Board and provide support in all of their fundraising initiatives.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The Director, Volunteer Development in conjunction with the Director, Volunteer Resources, is responsible for the development of volunteers through education and training to achieve the mission, vision and goals of the Credit Valley Hospital.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participates as a member of the Board of Directors, attending monthly Board meetings and providing reports to the Board quarterly
  2. Utilizing feedback from patients, hospital staff and volunteers, identifies volunteer training and education needs to meet patient, hospital and volunteer requirements eg. patient satisfaction. Develops Volunteer Partners awareness of hospital programs and services and creates a supportive, innovative and learning environment for volunteers.
  3. Creates and implements targeted workshops that will increase volunteer skills and knowledge
  4. Working with hospital training facilitators, develops training materials and trains the trainers.
  5. Schedules and promotes volunteer training programs to complete the targeted amount of volunteers to be trained.
  6. Develops post training surveys to gather feedback on value and effectiveness of training provided and reports results to the Board. Modifies programs and develops new workshops as required to address feedback
  7. Makes presentations to other hospitals on the volunteer development training programs that we deliver at Credit Valley Hospital, at the request of the Director Volunteer Resources or Human Resources.
  8. Liaises with volunteers and Director, Volunteer Resources, as required

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-4 years of management, public relations and/or education/training experience
  • prior experience as a volunteer and/or Board member is an asset

TRAINING:

  • General orientation to The Credit Valley Hospital provided by the Department of Volunteer Resources.
  • Orientation to The Credit Valley Volunteer Partners Board by the President, The Credit Valley Volunteer Partners
