Special Events Planned as Hospital Honours Historic Milestones

November 5, 2010...Mississauga ON – On Friday, November 5th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., a special celebration in The Credit Valley Hospital’s main lobby launched the 25th anniversary year of The Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga’s world-renowned hospital that first opened its doors in the fall of 1985 on what was then, just a farmer’s field.

From its founders’ original vision to provide “healing and hope” for the growing community of Mississauga, The Credit Valley Hospital has expanded to become a regional centre of excellence in cancer care, renal care, genetics, perinatal and paediatric care— staying true to its commitment to meet the needs of a growing community.

Anniversary events on November 5th celebrated the achievements of the hospital’s employees, physicians and volunteers while recognizing the support provided by the Mississauga community throughout its history. During the upcoming year, Credit Valley will celebrate its history by recognizing five milestones that span the past 25 years and can be characterized as building, providing, learning and living our promise.

“For 25 years, we’ve been committed to providing safe, quality and patient centred care to those who rely on us. Today, we have a rich culture dedicated to partnership and innovation, an outstanding reputation and award-winning facilities” says Michelle DiEmanuele, president and CEO of The Credit Valley Hospital. “The pride of our founders still holds true in our employees, physicians and volunteers today. We continue to value strong community support and never take it for granted.”

Recently re-elected Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion joined DiEmanuele and The Credit Valley Hospital Foundation president, Kathy Hay to celebrate the hospital’s past, present and bright future at the Friday afternoon event. The vocal group “CV Glee,” made up of hospital employees, made their singing debut at the event and a new mother of twins recently born at Credit Valley shared her personal story.

During the upcoming year, Credit Valley will celebrate its history by recognizing five milestones: building, providing, learning, leading and living our promise. Since its unveiling last year, the hospital has been implementing its new five-year strategic plan, “Together We Create Better Health Care.” The Credit Valley Hospital has been recognized as one of the most efficient hospitals in Ontario, despite being located in the fastest growing health region of the province.
