Ministry of Transportation Assessments
Information for Clients
Our program has the capability to assess people who are mandated by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to be assessed for alcohol or drug problems as a condition of keeping or returning a motor vehicle license.
Unfortunately this assessment and any related correspondence is not a covered
service of the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).
You will be required to pay for these services according to the fee schedule listed in this brochure.
If you are diagnosed with an addictive disorder, then any further treatment at our program is covered by OHIP.
What is Covered by the MTO Standard Fee
- Initial personal interview by a trained addictions counselor;
- Medical Assessment by one of our program addiction medicine consultant physicians, including physical examination if required;
- Communication with your Family Physician for information if required;
- Ordering and review of any relevant blood and urine tests;
- Attendance at our 1 day Addiction Education Group;
- Completion of any required Ontario Ministry of Transportation forms
- A written opinion and recommendations to the MTO with a copy of the report for the client.
What is NOT Covered by the MTO Standard Fee
- Any communication or reports requested by a client's lawyer or other agencies, except the MTO.
- Any MTO follow up reports required for licence reinstatement.
No Fee is Charged for
Clients will not be charged for addiction treatment or follow-up which follows the recommendations of the treating physician in relation to a diagnosis of
substance abuse or addiction. This treatment is covered by the Ontario
Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) and is available to those with a valid OHIP
card
Please note: Completion of the assessment, Education Group and a letter to the MTO is not a guarantee that you will get your driver's licence back.
MTO Program Assessment & Reporting Fee: $1500.00
This fee is payable in advance.

A receipt will be issued which must be shown at your initial assessment visit.
